Jessica O'Farrell
Ceramics
THE story BEHIND
Whilst growing up on the border or rural Devon and coastal Cornwall, Jessica discovered and fell in love with ceramics during her time studying a Btec in Art and Design at North Devon College.
She then went on to complete a BA Honours degree in Ceramics in Cardiff before setting up her own home studio in the South Wales Valleys.
Inspired by the beautiful landscapes of the Cornish Coast and Welsh Mountains she continues to develop and create new work using her 15 years of experience.
To Create
1. To cause to come into being, as something unique that would not naturally evolve or that is not made by ordinary processes.
2. To evolve from one's own thought or imagination, as a work of art or an invention.

Process
Jessica enjoys using a variety of methods to create unique and intereresting pieces. Some of her work is made by throwing on the potters wheel, drying, making a plaster mould and then slip casting. Others are made by hand-building from slabs of clay.
Colour
Jessicas favourite part of the making process comes in the addition of colour. She has spent a lot of time mixing and experimenting with her own glazes, concentrating in particular on a range of blues to emulate the shades and tones of the ocean.
